Not really. You will quickly fill it up if you get a lot.

250 CD's at 12 songs each = 3000 songs X 5 meg each = 15 Gig without your operating system or other programs.

At least 512mb of RAM & you can get a 300 gig hard drive at Best Buy on sale this week for $79.95

Nope. You will need a dual core processor, and a 256- 320GB hard drive in order to get all your CD's on without taking up all the hard drive space. I recommend an AMD Turion X2. They perform better than an Intel Core 2 Duo, as mine doesn't work as well as my dad's old Pentium 4 single core processor. Get a 1- 2GB RAM; that will be pretty good to get. Also, make sure your hard drive is a 7200RPM for the best perforamance possible. I have about 150 CD's and all of them, plus all my downloads take up half of my hard drive, 50GB taken with all my music, plus the additional 30GB with my other files, leaving my 100GB hard drive at only about 20GB of free space left. Also, you can compress your files. 128KBPS is a good size, however, 112KBPS is smaller, and it has similar quality. You can't tell the difference. Good luck, man. Hope you get a good system!

It's not going to take up all the hard drive space! 2GB will be enough for tons and tons of music. How are you going to compete with filling 80-60 GB of music? You have enough space for music, photos, and videos, and having the rest for internet and such.

If you're geeky, then you might be able to understand what this means, if you're not geeky, then forget the rest after this semi-colon; try compressing the songs to smaller size to have lower quality but smaller file size.

Each CD, when converted to MP3s, is around 60-80mb (assuming 12-14 tracks a CD). Multiply that by 300, and you get 18-24 gigabytes. So yes, it should be enough.

it relies upon on what pc you're paying for now say if the computer become about £four hundred/500 then it really is what you would assume from an section like pcworld, yet in case you've been spending £six hundred+ then search for 160gb, now do no longer make it a properly target for a more suitable not person-friendly force as they're low priced to change on maximum laptops. Now once you've the alternative like of dell and also you're figuring out imagine about what you do, say if you're like me, rather some pictures, some videos, extremely surf internet and do artwork. 80gb is more suitable than adequate. yet in case you want to do video/image modifying and play a tremendous number of video games then get a more suitable not person-friendly force.

no, you will need at least a gig of ram to run windows media player, surf the Internet and download at a good pace.
if you download a lot like albums and films then you will probably find that too small but if you only download a few songs and pics it probably will.

it will work if you have a high speed conection, if your running windows 2000, however if your running xp youll need to buy another 256mb stick of memory to get it to work right. 80 gb is decent but if you have 200-300 cds you better get you a 200 gb hd

good luck

As long as you leave about 10gb in your hard-drive free then its okay, 256mb ram isn't great, but it will depend on your internet connection too. Just to let you know an average song is about 5mb. Pictures are tiny!
