I have a 16MB DSL Connection from Sky. Although knowing I live far from the transfer port, which means ill expect speeds of 6-8MB, and a low latency, I was averagely downloading at 650-700KBPS, which I was happy with.

All of the above, was when my computer was wired to the router. We have moved computers in the house, and purchased 2 Netgear Wireless Adapters 54MBPS. Upon installing these, the maximum connection either computer is able to receive is about 2MB (250kbps MAXIMUM). This has only occured sinse installing the wireless network adapters.

Even if only one computer is on... The connection speed is still 2MB

I was just wondering if anyone knew any possible answer to this? Why this is happening?

Many Thanks!

Chris

Hello community, I ride from Millbrae to Montgomery station. I've seen a few people on the web on their laptops. I'd love to access that and get on my work network. Is this possible? How do I get access and how much does it cost? Thanks in advance!

This is driving me crazy! I have a Dell laptop with Wi-fi running Vista and a desktop running XP. I hooked up a wireless router and I am able to share my internet connection no problem. However, I am at a loss on how to set it all up to be able to share files between the two computers. They are not seeing each other. Any direction would be appreciated. Thanks!

My SBC Yahoo provided 2WIRE ALWAYS cuts on and off (the light above "Broadband Link". I have gone through numerous ethernet cords, and also have tried different phone line cords, and they do not help. The problems seems to worsen on some days and doesn't ever occur during some days or every weeks. Is this a common problem, and can it be fixed?

I would like to network 6 computers so that they can all share a medical billing software program. I've looked at the answers here and it looks like the cost should be at the most a couple hundred dollars, why am I being quoted thousands of dollars? Is there something I am missing?

Ok Here is what I want to do. It is working but I am sure I am not doing it right.

I have a XP and a Vista computer. Both of them have wireless adapters and are connected to the net through my Wireless AP and router. I want to connect these two computers directly to share files as going through the router is very slow and unreliable. I have connected them both using a crossover cable and assigned two static IP addressses to them that are not in the DHCP range for the wireless connections.

Now how do I make sure that internet is accessed only through the wireless connection? Sometimes, I get a network error pop-up on the Vista machine saying the IP address is already in use. Any idea what is going on and what is the best way to avoid any problems and achieve the desired result.

Thanks for your time.

Hello everyone. Well let me give you some specs of my network, I have 2 laptops running off of a WAP (Wireless Access Point). Two desktop computers running off of a Router, and a Compaq Proliant 6000 server running Windows Server 2003 with 1 gigabit ethernet card and 2 10/100 ehternet cards.

Right now, the way everything is hooked up, I only get about 3.0mbps transfer on ftp inside the network.

I need to get it at least to the 80mbps range inside the network.
Currently im using a netgear wireless router, and two Linksys NR041 routers.

i have forwarded everything correctly on the routers. All access to the server is correct, nothing is blocked except what should be. Can anyone give me a good idea as to how I can set this up well enough to at least get to 20mbps transfer rate. Remember, this is internally, not going out the internet connection, I want this speed inside my network.

If anyone can give me some hints or even draw me a diagram and tell me what I should buy..
Thanks!

At work, to get internet access, you would have to change proxy settings, and thats fine with me, but the problem is, I would have to change the proxy settings back to "Auto detect" when I am back home...

Doing this every single day is silly! Isn't there a way to associate proxy settings to a specific network or something?

Thanks in Advance!
