First of all why would you have your router sitting outside so it can get struck by lightning, secondly, how is it possible that something that is made of plastic and metal, survived a lightning strike? You will probably need to replace it. Otherwise if it is otherwise working, but loses the connection from time to time, check that your isp isn't renewing your ip address more often....some routers do not always release and renew ips when changed from the isp end....login to the router and make sure that the ip settings ares et to automatic....and also check whatever hardware you are connecting to the router, both wired and wireless, are keeping the connection and have good signal levels.

Actually, this is an answer to an answer, not to the original question -- Helping since 1969: Clearly the unit was not struck directly by lightning!! What the asker meant is that a lightning strike caused a voltage surge to the unit, an event that happens all the time, which is why surge suppressors are such popular accessories.

Most of the routers have reset button. It should be really tiny button, which you might have to press with paper clip or something small. Different manufacturers have different methods of reseting, you might have to check manfactures site. FYI: (Some manufactures have 2 types of resets, soft resets and hard reset. Try soft if no luck try hard reset.)

After reseting you will have to reconfigure the router. If reset does not help than you might wanna look for new router.

Hope that helps bud.

Oh geez... buy a new one.!! Why would you even want to risk using a piece of electronics that's been damaged in that way? Besides... I'm sure it couldn't be repaired anyway.
