HOW DO I TURN OFF THE FIREWALL FROM PC1?

ok, first part: Most likely the firewall on PC1 is not setup to allow file and printer sharing and a network connection. That is why the incoming ping from PC2 is being rejected.

The reason you can not connect to the internet when you reconect the modem to your computer is because the tcp/ip needs to be set for Assigne atomatic, not for 192.168.1.x, as your ISP needs to assign the IP address of the computer, not you.

I wasn't part of the 1st question/answer, so don't know what other's have recommended...

Do you have a router in the mix? It looks like you're trying to set up a personal, peer-to-peer network between you 2 systems. Why not simply connect the 2 to a router?

The router will issue the IP addresses to each connected device. It will allow communications between connected devices, and will allow each to connect independently to the internet.

Routers are inexpensive and is generally the easiest solution to home networking.

change your ip address to Obtain IP address Automatically, let windows find what ip address to assign into your com, and you must enable internet sharing to pc1, or maybe restart your computer and try to det up it again
