I have 2 other comps connected to mine wirelessly. We want to share files. I marked the files I wanted to share (clicked share box). Others still can't use them. Could someone tell me, please, how to, step by step, make files from my computer accessible on the other computers on my network? My comp has a router, the others are wirelessly connected. Thanks in advance. Boss Brat, the can't figure it out woman, lol.

Ok so I have a wireless connection in my house right now, but I am not happy with the way it is setup. I have 2 Gateway Desktops, 1 is 3 years old the other is fairly new. The guy that hooked it up put the router upstairs on the older computer, and the newer computer is downstairs with a wireless receiver. The computer gets a Very Low-Low connection, although the internet is fairly fast. But lately I have been dissatisfied with the connection, and was thinking about moving the router and Cable modem downstairs and the wireless receiver upstairs. I was wondering if the computers would detect the wireless network, and all I would have to do is install the drivers for the router on the new computer and the receiver on the old computer. But maybe I'm wrong and would have to redo the entrie network. What should I do??

I signed up for and have been paying for 1.5MB service through Embarq. It seemed a little slow so, I tested it at http://www.speedtest.net/

After contacting the phone company, it turns out that the phone lines in my area will only support 512k service. Although they knew it, they where happy to charge me for the 1.5MB service.

They have now lowered my bill to reflect the the slower service price.

I have Earthlink DSL, and Vonage VOIP on my computer. I want to get my Linksys router hooked up so that two old laptops in the house can also connect to the internet. I am stupid about this. I've found out I need wireless adaptor cards for the two laptops. Would it just be better to hook them to the router via a wire? Would it be cheaper? I don't know how much money I'm looking at here. I want to thank those who reply, your help is really appreciated. Also, if a wireless card is better, do I install it myself? Would Radio Shack help me with this? Comp USA? ACK....I hate this techie stuff !!!

Okay. Here is y exact situation:

I have:
- One Ethernet Cord.
- One Computer with Windows 98 which has NO Internet.
- A Computer with Windows XP, which has Internet, (this is the computer I'm currently on).

My Question: Using what I have, (and what I have is listed above); is there any way at all that I can simply use the ethernet cord to connect my Computer with Windows XP to my computer with Windows 98 so that I could get internet on the Windows 98? (I have a router for my XP, but I only have one wireless internet card connecting the computer with Windows XP to the internet, and besides... the software to setup the wireless internet card to the router isn't compatible with windows 98). So, please.... anybody; I'm SO DESPERATE for answers, please, and thank you SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 =D =D =D Also; I'd love it if you'd contact ,e wit hYahoo Messanger, please. =D (I find it quicker). Thanks again! -=D =D =D =D =D

I bought a router. I have Vonage too. If I set up this router, will other older computers in the house be able to connect to the internet. Do they need some kind of special card or something, or can I just set up the router and we're all good to go? The router is a Linksys wireless. I have Earthlink DSL on the puter. Thanks. I sure am dumb about these things.

Now Ive emailed xbox site and they sent me some information that didnt work. Whats happening is I hook straight to my modem and I set the IP address and DNS serves to automatic like they told me to and failed at IP address. I asked a friend of mine and he gave me his IP information and I entered it manually and it passed but then the DNS failed and I entered his and it didnt work. When i look at my modem it says that my ethernet is connected, ( the little green light is on, and is marked link/act). Someone told me to reset my dsl modem but i dont know how to do that. I disconnected everything and retried over and over again. Dont know what Im missing or what is wrong. Can someone please shed some light on my situation. Because Xboxlive sucks when your not connected to it. lol.

When I turn my wireless off, it goes down to 3-20 CPU usage. I know it is "MY" wirelss that is the problem because I can go to Starbucks and connect no problem. Airports? No problem. Even 4 other connections from my house are able to connect no problem with minimal or nil CPU Usage. I've scanned the internet, but everyone seems to be hung up on checking processes and other items. I believe it is a settin with my Router or an XP automatic download I wasn't aware of. I've had this router for over a year with no problems and no we have issues. I even sent the laptop to acer, who replaced the card under warranty but it still does the same thing. Any ideas out there?
