I use Windows XP and Realtek Network Adapter(on board). Whenever I try to set up a network using network setup wizard, it shows an error."unable to complete the wizard" try to setup network manually etc.. the network setup wizard log shows these
Network Setup Wizard Log
Attempting to set computer name
Old computer name is the same as new computer name - not setting.
Setting server description (comment): desk
Attempting to set workgroup name
Workgroup name is the same as the old one - not setting.
The Sharing configuration is unavailable.
Adapter Configuration for Home Networking failed.
Shared Printer: CutePDF Writer
Shared Printer: Canon MP160 Printer

I am able to successfully browse other computers and ping other computers on the network, but they cannot ping or browse files on this computer. I don't have any firewalls installed and the computers are in same workgroup and same ip series. I tried reinstalling the network card drivers too...
Please help.. thanks in advance...

I have a computer at work with XP/Pro and a computer at home with the same. I'm going to be working from home and wanted to know what the best way to have complete access to my office computer is. Should I use the remote access in xp/pro or go with one of those internet programs like Log-Me-In.com.

Could I use Wine Tools to emulate windows and run netgear wireless assistant? Would that work or is there an easier way. I don't want to install any linux distros, just run live cds. Is there any distro that will easily let m connect to a wireless network?

I bought a pair of Terk antennas but I found it doesn't fit your standard pci express card antenna port. its bigger I think its have WF-R connecter when regular router and pci express card is for SMA connector or something like that. So I'm wondering if you guys know a router that use this antenna or a good replacement high gain antenna that fit a regular internet card on a desktop. It'll be great if you can provide a link for the products.

I was researching and I found these two routers to be the best and easiest to setup. So, what are the advantages of the 54GL over the standard 54G?

And are the advantages worth paying $10-20 more?
10 points immediately to whoever first gives advantages and opinion.

I lost the installation cd for the router and forgot the password. Is there any way to reset the router so I can make a new password? I'm really lost in this whole way of securing a network. Would it be easier to just buy a new router? But would I still have to uninstall the old router software? HELP!!!

I'm in northeast Boulder, CO. I've tried the Qwest site already, but they only have this info:

Central Office Name GUNBARREL
Address

No address...
It's like they want to keep it a secret.
