I was researching and I found these two routers to be the best and easiest to setup. So, what are the advantages of the 54GL over the standard 54G?

And are the advantages worth paying $10-20 more?
10 points immediately to whoever first gives advantages and opinion.

The only real difference is that the GL has the new "push button" setup for wifi security. (I never really found that needed as setting up WPA is easy from the menu anyway!)

Both can be greatly improved with the DD-WRT software! Its a free "Linux" based routing system that has a whole lot more features than the standard load from Linksys. (Note both of these use Open Source Software from Linksys)
See http://dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/index.php for details

Either of them do the same job. The GL is slightly newer release with the "Easy Wireless Setup" and in all honesty that is about it. (Is that worth 10-20 bucks? Not to me.)

Here are Linksys own discriptions

for the GL.
The ONLY thing they say different is the one touch which only works with other ONE touch devices! Just setup your own wpa and you can have the same security with any device!

Have you called Linksys? They have pretty good tech support. Also, the IP address of the Linksys may be conflicting with the IP address of your Verizon DSL modem. Connect back to the modem (without the router) and get your IP address. I think the Linksys is 192.168.1.1 If they're the same, then you'd need to change the IP address of the Linksys router.
