* start > control panel > right-click local area connection
* on the local are connection properties look for Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and double click it
* on the TCP/IP Properties window
* choose w/c one you prefer, if you will have a static ip address you'll have to have the right info ip add, subnets etc...

No, each computer being used is assigned a different IP address to make it identifiable on the network. If two computers were to use the same IP address (although this is extremely improbable,) you would have connection issues and be notified of the IP address conflict.

Depends on what OS you are running, ie win xx? This part, however, is the same for most OS--get into the TCP/IP config tab and there is where you set "obtain ip automatically."

First you need to go to control panel then to network connections, then right click on the network card your using and go to properties, then scroll down a little in the inline box and click on internet protocol (tcp/ip).

Then theres just a little box to tick and press ok, hope this helps :)

Click Start and then Run...type cmd and press OK. Type ipconfig and press Enter. That will show you that computer's IP configuration.
