I was told that if I can purchase a VOIP device I can connect it direct to my dsl router and that way I can make free calls ( no skype required). I was given 3 models to check out LinkSys CIT400, Philips VOIP8411 and netgear SPH200. All of these devices require skype. Is the information they gave me correct? Is any way out there so I can utilize my DSL connection to make calls with out having skype or something similar to that? Thank you

Hi i own a belkin router which i was trying to make more secure by looking at websites which help out with this stuff. I use a wireless laptop btw.
Anyway it told me to do something on the router setup home page (when u like type in an adress like: 192.21.3.45) which basically made my router invisible to other people.
However, now it is invisible to me!! and it doesnt appear on my "Available wireless networks" list.

Please help- the only reason i am able to wirte this is cus im on my friends computer.

Please help asap- also do i need to reset the modem or something? How do i do that

I have a Laptop with a built-in Wi-Fi switch, which i use to connect to internet from hotspots. I want to connect my Laptop to my PC, so i can share files and play games on LAN. What should i buy to plug into my PC, to achieve this?

Would such a gadget (if there is any) make it possible to also share my wired ADSL connection, which at the moment is connected to my PC?

Thanks in advance..!

When my Limewire or Ares, or Utorrent running, my internet is so much slower. These programs are running fine (download speeds and such are fine), but when I load up websites, they take forever to load, even when these programs aren't downloading anything

Is there a way to fix this? I run Cogeco Security Services Firewall and its on Normal setting.

I am looking for a wireless card on eBay. I noticed that they all have different numbers/letters behind them. Do all wireless cards work the same (provided you buy the right one for your pc) or are some faster than others? If so...which ones are fast?

I am looking for a replacement for a Cat6 module in a single gang face plate, which fits a standard back box, and adapts the wall box to four outlets by means of a self contained Gigabit Ethernet switch.

Can anyone direct me to such a product?

Thank you.

I'm planning to go on a trip around the world, and I'd like to share Pictures and Video with my family and friends back home, so I'll need an Internet Connection.
I have a laptop computer, and, since i'm planning to go in not very high-tech countries, I'd rather not have to depend on Internet points, wich may be very rare.
Is there an international telecommunications provider that offers the service of a worldwide connection (eg. via satellite phone, or portable dish)?
Possibly a flat-rate subscription, so that I won't have to worry about time of connection or amount of data exchanged?

Firstly, apologies for what must seem to you to be a stupid question. I;m just making sure.

If someone calls my laptop from their laptop, do only they use up memory during the call, or both of us? (I've noticed that skype uses up a LOT of memory and I was under the impression that it didnt. I am wondering if its because I am initiating all the calls)
