I have 2 IP addresses, let me say I 201.123.1.x and 201.123.2.x . Then I have 9 medium rooms with about 24 computers. My big bro wants me to make the networks in each room independent from each other through subnetting.

How does subnetting work? Can you please provide references?
Thanks!Ü

I have a wireless printer and a wireless router and two laptops with wireless NICs, but I also have one desktop hard wired to the wireless router. Is it possible for the desktop to print through the router to the printer or does the desktop need a wireless network card installed like the two notebooks? If anyone has tried this please let me know if its possible because there is no reason physically why it shouldn't work.

I have an old (released in 2000) Netgear 4-port hub (SB-104) that I want to use to network 2 computers together and a cable modem. If I connect one of the computers to the hub without the cable modem, it's unable to retrieve an IP address and says limited or no connectivity. If I connect one of the computers to the hub with the cable modem, it retrieves my ISP's IP address. I don't believe it has DHCP built into it. I've somehow managed to get it working before between the two PCs and internet, but at this point I'm stumped. Is there a way to manually configure my TCP/IP settings to get it to work?

This is a follow-through question to my last one as I could not get a relevent answer.

I am in the process of resolving a low speed broadband connection with help from my ISP. However, they believe there are unknown and hidden processes running in the background, completely undetected by the anti-virus and anti-spyware software.

However, all I want to know from you guys is this: Is there anything for me to observe on Local Area Connection Status window - like the number of sent packets in comparison with the number of received packets at the current login ?

PS: Right now, the number of sent packets is far too high than the received even with all programs and applications closed. My ISP says this is a clear instance of the internet connection being used by unknown programs in the background !

Hi, I recently atempted to put a password on my wireless router by typing in the adress bar: http://192.168.2.1/ and then put a pass on. Then It apears I am connected but it does not let me access anything with the usual error page coming up. I can still connect through the normal router using an ethernet cable.. any ideas?

Can a linksys wireless usb adapter work with a netgear wireless router? I have a RangeMAX Next Wireless router and also came upon a Lynksys Wireless-B USB network adapter and I was wondering if the two would work together. I have hooked them up and I know the router is working fine and my computer says the adapter is also working properly, but I have not figured out how to configure the adapter settings to put in the Network name and passphrase to connect and so far it isn't working. Any ideas? I was thinking to open the connection just to see if it will connect, but thought I would ask before i waste too much time.
