74.72.163.35 is a IPv4. I want to get a compatable router for Road Runner and this IP adress is strange.

Any router should be compatible with your IP. The one you list is just a standard public IP. Routers will take that and convert that IP to local ip's that your computers will use. (Like 192.168.0.100 etc). This is called Network Address Translation or NAT for short. Its the way to use ONE public IP for many machines otherwise each machine would have to have an IP from Road Runner. There is nothing strange at all about that IP.

Get a Linksys, DLink, Netgear etc any should work just fine. A lot of people just think linksys is the ONLY router to use. Personnally, I like Buffalo Technologies (the linux core is very solid for routing!)

From Networksolutions.com, it is a valid IP address that is leased by Roadrunner.

this could be right. the format of an IPv4 address is
a combination of 4 values between 0-255 separated by a dot
