Hi, I recently atempted to put a password on my wireless router by typing in the adress bar: http://192.168.2.1/ and then put a pass on. Then It apears I am connected but it does not let me access anything with the usual error page coming up. I can still connect through the normal router using an ethernet cable.. any ideas?

If you are saying you put a wireless password for use with the router, you will need to Disconnect your computer from it, using the wireless settings. Then reconnect to the router, it will ask for your wireless password, and then you will connect and be able to surf!

This happens when you have connected to the device (Belkin) then you add a password to the wireless. The laptop or wireless card still thinks it is setup and working. The only fix is to tell it to disconnect, then reconnect and enter the security code!

You can do this from the small computer icon in the lower right hand tool bar and view all networks. It will show you connected (which you aren't) just click the disconnect tab at the bottom. Then after it shows disconnected just reconnect.
It will ask you for your password. If your icon isn't there use control panel, network adapters to find your wireless adapter.

Are you sure that 192.168.2.1 is the address of your router?

To make sure go to Control Panel - Network Connections - Double Click on the corresponding network point (i.e. Local Area Connection) then on the window that comes up select the support tab. The address you enter to connect to your router is the Default Gateway address.

Your best connecting to the router through the ethernet cable to put a password on it connecting to it through your wireless connection can cause a few problems. If your connecting to the router correctly you should get a windows prompt box asking for a user name and password. If your not getting this prompt box try doing a hard reset of the router.

This is done by getting a pin or paperclip and pressing the indented reset button on the back of the router. If your still having trouble read the manual... i know you dont want to but it has all the information in there that you would need.

Hope this helps
