Hello,

I currently work at a small high school with less children than the average high school. Our network manager/computer technichian recently left the school, and the school management team has decided to appoint an existing member of staff as the new Network administrator. Because I have a small background in programming and good general computer knowledge, they gave me the job.

Unfortunately I know next to nothing about networking and network management and I would really appreciate if someone would point in the right direction as far as learning the basics of managing a medium sized school network. I would like to know how to do things such as block inappropriate websites and monitor what logged-in students are doing. Can anyone help?

The background downloading seems to crowd out the voice connection. Is there a way to set aside a percentage of bandwidth and lock it so that Skype can use it and no other program can touch it? I'm using Windows XP.

I just switched from Verizon DSL to Comcast Hi-speed Cable internet. Verizon had sent me a Westell VersaLink 327w model D90-327w15-06 to use. I've heard that I can use this as a router but I am not sure how to do it. I would be using it for my families home computer, my XBox 360 for Live, plus the wireless for play on PSP and DS. The Verizon DSL is already deactivated. How do I go about doing this if it is possible?

Are the ones with 3 antennas faster?
I think wireless-N is capable of 4 antennas. But I haven't seen any for sale anywhere. Have you?

If more antennas = more speed. Will the future of wireless networking see routers for sale equipped with several dozen antennas transceiving at different frequencies?
