Most wireless adaptors will work with any brand of router if they are running the same protocol (set of instructions). If you look on your router it will tell you somewhere which protocol it is running. The common on are 802.11b, 802.11g and the new 802.11n. (The router may not say 802.11 on it, but it model might end with a b, g or n.) Depending on the protocol of the router, you will want an adapator that uses the same protocol (b,g, or n).
