To answer your question for the school project regarding how to access the internet through the phone line, you will need the following.

1. Telephone Service.
2. Dial up Service.
3. RJ-11 (a term used for a phone line) to connect from modem to the wall.
4. A dial up modem.
5. A phone jack.
6. A working computer with either a built in modem or a usb connection to allow the internet into the computer.
7. An OS. Operating System such as Windows, Mac or even Linux.
8. If you are using the USB connection, you will need USB drivers. If you are using an internal modem, you will need the software for the modem. Sometimes, the windows default software might work.
9. On the computer, you will need a web browswer to access the internet such as IE or Mozilla Firefox.
10. You will need electricity to power on the modem and computer.
11. And finally, you will need oxygen to breath since I helped you out!

Take it easy. ^-^

I think you need a modem with the spead of at least 56 Kbps ,,, installed in ur pc,, and of course an Internet Service Provider(ISP) (either DSL or Dial-Up Connection) since ur using a phone line, probably you'll need a pre-paid card where it uses the phone line to call the company of the ISP in charge and they will connect you to the internet. But its charged like a regular call except your pc is calling the isp so it can access the internet.

You need to have an Internet connection (set up a connection through an Internet Server Provider [ISP]). You also need (of course) a computer with a working modem. That is for Dial-Up. DSL is different. You have to have all of the above, plus a DSL modem. I hope this helps!

You'll need a computer with a dial up modem.

A relatively clean phone line. Meaning the signal is not fuzzy.

An ISP (Internet Service Provider)

That's about it. You'll need a web browser too, but most OS' already have them integrated.

You need a phone line & cable, an ethernet cable and whatever service that would be the ISP (Internet service provider). You would need the appropriate modem for whichever type service you would be using (dial-up, DSL, etc.)

A modem, a good reliable ISP, and probably a serge protector, just in case.

Well you don't anymore... its all cable internet. But if you did it would be to transfer data in the form of phone tones.

You need either a Modem - short for modulate/demodulate - which is what the modem does to the signal.
