EMBARQ DSL scam check you speed?

I signed up for and have been paying for 1.5MB service through Embarq. It seemed a little slow so, I tested it at http://www.speedtest.net/

After contacting the phone company, it turns out that the phone lines in my area will only support 512k service. Although they knew it, they where happy to charge me for the 1.5MB service.

They have now lowered my bill to reflect the the slower service price.

Yep, DSL speed packages are the biggest scam all over the world right now. Before you sign up for a higher DSL speed package make sure of two things. The maximum speed your line will support and the max speed you will get because of your homes distance to the local slam box at your telephone company.
