The easiest way is to purchase a wireless router for both homes and a wireless adapter for your computer. Then when you visit either home all you have to do is turn your computer on and you will connect right away.......

We need more information to fully answer you.

Do you use a wired or wireless connection at mama's house? I presume there is a router at this location and mama's pc is connected to the router and you also connect to the router to connect to the Internet. If there is no router, do you disconnect the other pc to connect?

Does your son have a router at his house that connects his network to the modem OR does he connect directly to the Com Cast modem? If he has a router (wired or wireless) you connect to the router. If it is wired, you plug a straight cat 5 patch cable into a router LAN or a network switch port. If it is wireless you make sure the wireless access point config permits you to log on consistant with whatever wireless security config he has set up.

Note that you must store the proper wireless config on your notebook to link. You can store several different configs (mama's and son's in your case) on tne notebook and select the proper one manually.

If neither have routers, I suggest these be added as routers are designed to permit several LAN devices to connect to the Internet source. Properly installed these are safe, secure, and flexible. If wireless config is a bit too sophisticated or challenging and if you can live with a wired connection, you may be well served with wired connection. Wireless requires security to keep freeloaders and hackers off and setting up the security is a bit challenging to the novice.
