It is never safe to disable the Firewall, unless the router, has an integrated Firewall.

Some people will tell you that so long as you have a firewall between you and the internet, you're safe. This is not so. Studies have shown that most attacks happen from within.

I would keep your firewall enabled and add an exception to allow the application or protocol that you're trying to configure through.

Neither normal or safe. You should be able to configure your firewall to "allow" the local devices to communicate, yet firewall everything else.

Depends on what firewall software you using, how you configure that to happen.

the answer depends on whether you disabled windows firewall and you have a router. or if you disabled your routers firewall protection. if the former, you should be ok. if the latter, not so much.

not normal, no need to disable firewall, you don't want to do that, you want to go into firewall settings and set it up
