We were driving up a side street with parking on both sides. We wanted to park in a spot that faced the opposite direction of which we were driving. To turn around, we turned into an alley. We put our car in reverse, but had not even started moving (if we had it was less than 2 inches and we were still in the alley) when we heard a crash behind us. A van driving down the street and a car coming out of the alley on the other side of the street from us crashed. There was a car parked very close to the alley so he likely was not able to see the van coming before it was too late. Also, since the street is narrow with cars parked on sides, the van was driving in the middle of the road. We backed out and parked and got out to talk to the police. The van asked if we could witness that the car had hit her. Police came and told us that it was an easy case. The car was at fault. Then I got a call saying we were being accused of fault. I think it is the car that is accusing us. Is this right?

My husband met with a car accident last night, and thankfully he got out of it without serious injuries, but just some bad sprains, and pains.
He was on green and while he was making his turn, there was this pick-up truck which came in a flash and hit my husbands car on the drivers side rear door. All the air-bags came out except his steering wheel. The windshield is also broken. Police had filed the accident. The other guy did not accept his fault. The body shop guy said that our car is total and will not make it. So far now from what the cops have told we had a independent witness who had given a report in favour of my husband.
We did talk to our insurance co too, and he had a recorded claim with the insurance co.
So now what is next? Will the insurance co pay us or replace the car..we have our insurance with Ameriprise. How long does this take...we are totally clueless, as this our first one & a BIG ONE.

Thank you all in advance, any help would be appreciated!!

My wife was driving my old Dodge ES Turbo convertible, (1986, with 50K miles), she parked it on a slope and turned off the engine.

She started up to leave and the car will not get into gear. I tried to pull it inot gear but no luck. It is an automatic.

What is wrong???? And can I fix it???

Is it in need of transmission fluid? I know little about cars.

Thanks!!

Hi expert,
My car has recently been making these louder than normal sounds which I'm guessing is a whole in the exhaust pipe or manifold. It gets really loud when the revs go up and settles down when the revs are low. Could some tell me exactly what has happened and what would be a rough cost for repairs. Would selling my car be a viable solution? Thanks for your answers.

I did a 4 second "burnout" in my '95 Z28 today (stock) at low rpms. Without regard for tires, how hard is doing that on a car? I can see how 45 seconds to a minute could cause problems because you're at high rpm, with the engine under load, with little air moving through the radiator. But for a short one, how hard is it on the differential, drive shaft, tranny, and engine? What about brakes? Seems like spinning the wheels for four seconds with the brakes depressed isn't much different than your every day stop at a red light... I don't see how it could be very hard on the brakes... And it seems like a 300hp engine would laugh at whatever resistance the rear brakes had to offer. I'm mostly worried about the effects even a short burnout could have on the tranny and the differential (suddenly spinning quickly, then suddenly stopping).

hello. i own a 2007 lexus IS250 with both black exterior and interior and residing in florida. the car doesnt have any tint on the glass. it is parked out in the sun most of the time and gets extremely hot. i dont know what will be the right thing to do to as i am worried about the fading of the dash and the leather seats. some people told me that tints help and some told me to put a sunshade on the front while the car is parked. my first question is that does the sun heat really bad for the interior for such a luxury car. i feel that its dash and leathers have been already made to bear such heat. may be i am wrong and wante your OPINION. second question is what can i do to save the interior. should i put tints. if not then what should i do. thanks for your help in advance.

The car will start right up again but I have to step on the gas to keep it running. I then put in a splash of oil and the light goes off and it runs fine.
