Depends where the leak is, but it would be foolish to pull a pump to change a gasket. Just change the pump. More than likely the pump is leaking from the weep hole which is an idicator of the bearing seal leaking which basically mean that the pump is shot. Change the pump, get rid of the problem.

I agree with changing the pump even if its a gasket. Water pumps are usually fairly cheap unless its a more exotic car brand, besides if you change the gasket and it turns out to be the pump you'll be real pissed when you have to take it all apart again, trust me I just went through this., lol

In most cases a leaky water pump means the water pump is bad. Especially if it is making noises. Even if it were the gasket, you still would have to remove the water pump to replace the gasket and if you have to do that, you might as well replace the pump. Replace the radiator hoses too while you are at it.

Water pumps are cheap. Just put the new one on. It's probably leaking because it's worn. They make them do that on purpose so you'll know it's going out before it fails and wrecks the engine.

That all depends on WHERE it's leaking from.
Mating surface to the engine? (gasket)
Bearing seal? (replace the water pump)
Hose connection? (tighten the hose clamp)
