It means you need to get the $50 OBDII scanner so you can read the trouble codes on any car built in the last 11 years. It saves a lot of trips to the shop and impresses the heck out of your friends.

It means you need to find out what's wrong with car. Hook it up to a diagnostic computer and get it the codes, to find out what's wrong, fix those; then reset the computer.

check engine light or service engine light is not the same as maintence required. Maitence means you need an oil change. Check engine or service light means there is something wrong with the car.

maybe nothing but the mfg. getting you back to the dealer. I dont recall the exact number but after cycling the ignition switch a number of times it come on. Then again there could be a problem. does the engine start and run ok? Does the light stay on or only intermittent? For a small fee any reputable garage can scan for trouble codes.

probably something wrong with the emissions stuff on the engine...02 sensor or some other sensor...there are alot of sensors. Ask someone to pull the codes on your car and it will point them in the direction of the problem.

Something has gone wrong...... a code is now stored in your computer.... you need to go to your local auto store and have your computer scanned with an OBDII scanner, they will tell you what codes are in there, what is wrong and needs to be replaced.
