i bought an old very used car. i dont have much money and the thing is in need of a tuneup. well it gets 12 mpg. no thermostat, smog pump was froze. etc. well im going for the pump next, but why the heck were the plug wires rearranged? it seems that when you viewed the cap (i should pay attention), all but 2 of the wires were going to left side of cap left of block, right of cap right of block. now, i rearranged the wires when i got the thing, and have had them off to clean oil from them, but why didnt i notice this? and second, when i was transfering the wires to the cap, i started at #1 and went counterclockwise. well when i got half way around, i pulled the next wire loose to move it. when i looked back at the old cap for the next 1, it seems i skipped 1. so, i moved the 2 wires in question, turned out there were 4 wires wrong. ive done this atleast 100 times, hmmm and does it = poor mileage.no backfires etc, just more power now.
btw, verified fire order months ago, how did it happen
