It averages about 5800 to 7000.00 to get your private pilots license. The time it takes to learn is really up to you, I mean the FAA does require that you have at least 40 hours of flight time and a certain amount of ground school, but really its all up to how dedicated your are. If you were to continue on the money will start to add up, but if you really want to be a pilot for a career and you really love it, it is definitely worth it in the end.
If you are in the US there are programs such as Pilot Finance that can aid you with the cost of flight school and is definitely worth looking into!!!

Good luck and happy flying - the Sky's the limit!!!!

I am a certified pilot and after I had taken all the courses and classes it ended up costing me around $5,000! It took me around a year and one half to finish everything up. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the hardest, I would give flight school a 8.5.
Hope it helped.

For just a Private pilot license it costs around 5 to 6 thousand. For Instrument rating, Commercial license, Multi engine rating and Certified flight instructor and Certified flight instructor-instrument it will cost around 35 to 40K. Depending on where you want to go. It all depends on what you want to do with your certificates.

It depends upon how long you have to fly before you are signed off. I counted the medical and everything else I needed and it cost around $7000.

Private pilot's license runs around $7000, and that is VFR, with no endorsements (such as seaplane or IFR). A commercial pilot's license (which includes multi-engine, IFR) is around 30,000 for fixed-wing aircraft and twice that for rotary-wing aircraft (i.e. helicopters).
