The dashboard lights dimmed, the stereo turned off and on and then when I turned my car off and went to star it again it wouldnt turn on. I still have power to everything else in the car except the engine. It makes a "clicking" noise when I turn the ignition but it wont turn over. I got it jumped but that only lasted me the ride home.
Is it the alternator? Any rough estimates on how much this stuff costs?
PS. The battery is only a year old...so I dont think its that
thank you so much!

I recently bought a used 2001 Volkswagen Jetta TDI turbo diesel and the past few weeks it has been having problems with the spark plugs. they don't seem to deliver the power they did when i bought the car, and the fuel economy has gone down the toilet. The mechanic told me the new plugs were going to be $129 apiece, so I'm wondering if there's any other way to get them to work correctly.

I have a P reg Vectra. 1.8 16v GLS. I have just realised that I have been leaking small spots of oil for a while. I have just filled car with oil. The engine is begining to over heat and there is a ticking/tapping sound. Also a loud screach when car first starts buts gets better when warm. I have also noticed that I have been using a lot of petrol lately. For info I do a lot of motorway driving. Any ideas...

I bought some radiator (leaky, cracked head gasket etc) sealer and poured it in the radiator according to directions. It seems to have done what it was supposed to do since I'm not losing antifreeze as fast now. However, it seems that the thermostat is now sticking. The temp needle on the dash goes almost to 200 F, check guages light comes on - I pull over - wait a bit - then start up again and the temp cuts back. Does this quik fix sealer stuff cause this problem? What should I do about it?

I run a driving school in the UK and i'd like to know what pupils would most like to see so i can improve my business. What could schools do to appeal to you more? What made you choose the school you went with instead of another one? What do you like and dislike about learning? Where did you look for lessons?

My car has been good to me...in the 4 yrs I've had it, I bought it with high mileage (I believe somewhere around 150k miles) but I figured it would get me where I needed to go until I could save up for a new one and it was only $900.... The a/c didn't work and the power steering fluid was leaking, I'd have to put in a bottle every other week,
so I'd never expected it to last to long, but my dad ended up fixing my Power Steering, and things ran fine...
Well about a yr after buying it, my timing belt went out, I bought the belt and had this guy come and take it to fix it, I was only s'posed to pay him for 2 hrs labor and the towing fee, which I believe was $85 all together, well w/out my permission he put other belts on, they were ready to go out too "so he says" and charged me like $150 and said he only charged for the parts, not the labor since he'd done it without asking, anyway ok that's all i'd ever put into the car other than the basic stuff, gas, oil, ect...

I am trying to break into the 20th century and bought a scan tool. On a 01 Chevy ser# 1GBJC34U21E262315 , throttle cable ,non Calf. emissions the check engine light is on and sometimes flashing [misfire may ruin cat.con.] and has the folowing codes; PO137,PO140,PO154.PO157,PO160& PO3OO.
Code tips say B1 S1 - 02 Sensor and B2 S1 - 02 senser. Dose this mean Bank 1 Senser 1and Bank 2 Sensor 1? The voltage from These 02s is up & down from apx 50-800 changing very rapidly. B1 S2 & B2 S2 are steady. Is the S1 the pre cat 02 and S2 the after cat 02?
Is there a easy test for 02 sensers?
How do I tell if it is in closed loop?
What is the 4 red lights on scan tool for?
The scaner is the small red retangle box with scrowl Knob.
Thanks

I read in newspapers that in the next 3, 4 years, there will be an express train from Gravesend, Kent, to central London, and it takes only 17 minutes.

On paper, this sounds terrific. But from a health perspective, is it good to travel twice a day (going to work and back home) on an express train?

This isn't a rumour or a myth, i work closely with the transport industry and pay per mile driving will be a reality in Britain by 2012. It is to be trialled in Birmingham and involves speed camera style beacons being erected on every single road around the city. You will be recorded driving past and sent a bill each month for your mileage.

The cost is £1.50 a mile at peak times but every single road has a different charge from 2p to £1.50 depending on time of day and traffic. This means an average 5 mile drive into and out of the city would result in a £230 a month charge.

The government say after a public survey, the public back the scheme and are more than happy to pay the fee to help cut congestion. I cant believe that so i want to hear some of your views. This will become a national scheme should the trial be a success.
