Every 5000km or 5 months if you use a regular diesel like Tata's or Mahindra, or a petrol car from Maruti
Every 10000km or 6~7 months if you use a hyundai, mitsubishi, etc.

Every 3000 miles ideally. 5000 at the most. always recycle your old oil,, never dump it,, it is a really bad bad contaminate.

you take the old oil to a garage for recycling instead of dumping it out.

When you check the oil, and it is darker then when you put it in, by about 3 shades. or 3000 miles

You use a drain pan and put a new filter on. Do this every 3,000 miles/5000km.
