I have a Ford Focus which I have been very happy with. Now the time has come for a change. what do I get? Another Focus or a VW Passat or a Vauxhall? Or something else in a similar price range (for a one or two year old vehicle). What's your opinion or experience?

my 1996 jetta recently had a major leak from what seems to be a "cooler" on the oil filter going into the engine.

the seal was broken causing oil to spit out. the oil light was flashing before that, and even now that i replaced the seal (doesnt seem like exact original seal) i disconnected the electrical oil sensor and replaced it with a mechanical one.

the oil pressure when idling seems to vary from time to time, it can be up to 70psi or at less than 20psi sometimes. (when idling) the first day i day i test drove it, the car almost stalled.

what could be the problem? what is the regular oil pressure for a jetta?

im thinking it could either be because of the seal isnt proper size and causing pressure to escape, or maybe i didnt properly installed the hose going to the mechanical oil pressure gauge.

I have been driving a 2000 beetle for about 1year and found out it has been in an accident prior to me buying it. It burns oil and the dip stick cracked. Does anyone know of problems with this type of car?

My dad bought a beetle recently with no seats, and has since asked me to try to find them online. He has checked the nearby pick-a-part, but has not found any. Everytime I do searches online, I only get results for parts of the seat (like the seat belts) and never the whole seats. Does anyone know where I could get them either online or locally (in Riverside, CA)? Thanks to those who reply :)

I live in South O.C, and have tried several auto parts places that say I need to have V.W service my car (a 2003 Jetta wagon). I can see the P/S fluid, and can just put it in myself. I saw it on-line, but I was wondering where I could just walk in and buy the stuff. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I got a 2.5 Automatic Rabbit 08. I love the car and the tiptronic is super fun. Here is my problem, and I wonder if it is common. I am still on my second fuel tank and the first tank gave me only 15.6mpg. Given that the tank holds 14.5 gallons and the car is advertised as 22mpg city, 29mpg highway I fear there is something wrong. I drove only 220 miles while I should have gotten at least 350 on average.
Anybody with the same problem? Or is this just common among brand new cars? I am thinking about taking it to service tomorrow.

It is a VW Passat 2.8L V6. I just got it and I believe the dealer put regular in it and the manual says premium. Now the car is shaking a bit. Could this be a result of not having premium in it?

I got in my car this morning and didn't give it much time to warm up before I left. The temp outside was 18. By the time I got on the highway the light was blinking so I went home and turned my car off and then turned it on again and there was no light. Could it just be being weird or is something wrong? The temperature gauge took a long time to start moving to the middle too.

So, about a month ago, some water was spilt inside my console (which hosts one of my car lighters). I looked where the fuses were, changed the fuse, and it still does not work on both car lighters (one is located near the arm rest). Any ideas on what I can do in short of going down to the dealership?
