I have a VW polo. A few weeks ago the starter motor had to be replaced and since then (I don't think it was doing it before but I can't be sure) whenever I use the car and the engine has stopped there is a clicking/ticking sound coming from the front of the car. Has anyone got any idea what this could be? or what could cause it? is it anything to worry about?

My mom says that Volkswagen Beetles are unsafe because they are small. That is not true. Just because they are small doesn't mean they are unsafe! I have done research and they are actually one of the safest cars out there!!! How can I convince her that They are safe and they are not coffins on wheels??? How??? HELP!!!!!

I have a 2007 VW New Beetle with 900 miles on it. The check engine light just came on. Any ideas of why this might have happened? Thank you,
Daniel

I bought a 2006 volkswagen golf gls in early '07, i paid 18,000 for it, only had a little over 10K on it. Not a bad deal, Its a 5 spd, white, and handles great. ONly problem I have with it is the bat died a few days ago. I called AAA and they came out and jumped it for me. It ran good for a day or two, then the bat died again. I don't know much about cars, so what could the problem be? I do not have any aftermarket parts on it or anything that would drain the bat. Mabye the bat just needs replaced, I have no idea. So if anyone out there has an answer, thank you.

I have a 2003 1.8T Passat with 46000km. I purchased the car new in 2003. As I write, the car is at the dealership again, this time due to the transmission failing to shift. This problem has been sporadic the past week. When I start the car in the morning and put the shifter into reverse, all the gear indicator lights illuminate on the dashboard. (IE: Just the "R" should light up when in reverse and "D" when in drive etc) and the trans won't shift automatically. It seems to go into 3rd gear and stay there, which makes the car sluggish when pulling away from a stop. They ran a diagnostic, but did not pinpoint the problem. Their computer did indicate sporadic operation of the transmission switch, but did not say why. Has anyone experienced this problem with their Passats.

My friend has a 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio, which I'm helping her to sell. She had the battery replaced, and the (factory) radio has re-set itself and won't turn on. The display says "SAFE".

Is there an under-the-hood code I need to find, to get a re-set code from a local dealer? Or is there some other procedure or code I should use?

No, we don't have the owner's manual.
