That is my DREAM car! The newer version of the beetle- green exterior, tan interior, sun roof, spoiler!!! I WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR THAT CAR! Please, please, please HELP ME! But if you know of any car that's a nice car that I can get for free or around $500 PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!

I'm thinking of getting a VW beetle when my Saturn has driven its last mile- it be will the 1st car I've bought for myself, so I really want to know (from owners would be great, anyone else is much appreciated) the pros and cons, best year, engine info, ect, of the model; I've talked to different people and it sounds like it depends on the individual car you get- some say they're excellent, others say they lack in dependablity/good electrical system. Anything would be helpful!

I noticed this morning that when I come to a stop (and hold the brakes) that the wipers stop. When I release the brakes they start back up. Is this normal? The car is going in for its 5000 mile today, so I will ask them, but thought I would toss it out here for you guys. Thanks (up front) for the quality answers.

i've noticed 99-02 jettas had numerous problems. but 03 jettas seem like they had improved by a whole lot in just 1 year. has vw's improved lately in reliability

The new jetta's and GTI lok nice but I am concerned about VW's reliability (Consumer Reports)? Would it be good for first cars. I have also heard complaints about VW reliability for owners.

I just bought a 95 Cabrio , and I'm curious what the button in between the switches for the rear windows (power windows) is supposed to do? Right now it doesn't do anything that I'm aware of. Any help out there?

Also, are you supposed to attach the front part of the boot (closest to the rear passenger seats) to anything? If I drive around with the boot on it flaps around pretty badly, so I wanted to find out if there was any way to secure it better then just the thing on either side.

After many minor maintanence repairs, my jetta finally decided to take the big fall. It has been "lagging" in power when I step on the gas, usually in 2nd gear, but then it picks up. But a few days ago the lag became longer, then I heard a pop/bang from under the car, and then the engine became completely unresponsive to the gas petal. Eventually the engine died and I coasted to the curb. I noticed a sulfur smell when the car stopped.

A few extra things:
-When I start it the engine turns over but doesn't catch.
-When the "lagging" occured the RPM's didn't jump, they matched the speed I was going.
-There has always been a rattling sound, in any gear, around 3000rpm's.

As I said this may be the big repair, have any ideas on what the problem could be? And how much am I getting myself into?

I am looking for kits that are available to add AC on a 62 Beetle. I have seen the ICE diagram but would prefer to not run hoses back and forth if I don't have to. If you have a diagram that would also be great.
