I noticed this morning that when I come to a stop (and hold the brakes) that the wipers stop. When I release the brakes they start back up. Is this normal? The car is going in for its 5000 mile today, so I will ask them, but thought I would toss it out here for you guys. Thanks (up front) for the quality answers.

No aftermarket on the vehicle, and the wipers start back up after the brakes are released. In the office here we think it is sort of funky also.

I drive a 06 Jetta too...and i've noticed this....and it is absolutely normal. It does this so when you have the wipers turned to a high speed when you are driving, you may not need them running really fast when your stopped so it turns the speed down for you.

Our Land Rover and Volvo's have rain sensing wipers and the wipers slow down when you come to a stop because of both the fact they HAVE speed-sensitive wipers and a rain-sensor. It would seem that it is normal. However, if it seems not to be functioning correctly have the dealer inspect the electrical system.

That sounds like the old school cars that used vacuum to power the wipers etc.. It is probably a short in your wiring though but good luck.

Thats def. an electrical problem. Sounds like an alternator issue or any other electrical glitch dubs are known for. You'll be covered by warranty, no doubt, but get that looked at soon because other things could start working incorrectly in a chain reaction.

wouldn't it say something about that in the manual. that does sound weird, though. what happens if you don't step on the brakes do they keep working.
