Well what type of work needs to be done and now much do you think you can get it for? Check out this link and compair other ones are going for : thesamba.com . There's alot of factors realy if you have pic I can try to help, just email them to me or send me a link. I have a 1971 Bus and 1965 Bug, there fun cars, easy to work on(well sometimes), and for the most part late cars(68plus) are very easy to get parts for. If you can spare the time read up on the differnt models on the samba first and you'll learn tons. Good Luck

Well without seeing it I know we would pay anywhere from $1000-$5000 depending on it's state. In the VW world buses are a rare comodity and everyone wants at least one.
I am not sure why the other ppl have to give stupid answers when they don't even like the car/bus.
BTW you don't have to be a hippie to like a well made car...and 35 years is a badge of honor...let's see these crappy hyundais in 15 years...betcha they won't make it that long.

You could check the points gap! Power to the ignition coil! You can put a screwdriver in the sparkplug ends of your HT leads and put the steel part of the screwdriver a few mm away from a good earth then turn the engine and look for a spark! This tests your leads! (don't touch them while you do it you'll get a shock) It could be your condenser too! Points and condenser cost a few quid to buy! To be honest you could buy a new ignition coil/HT leads /Points/condenser/Rotor arm/Dizzy cap and spark plugs from Partco for about £50! Points are the hardest to fit and they are simple with a Haynes manual! That would be a good place to start!

Not much - it's 35 years old, it will be tough to buy parts for it, it has a lousy safety record. These things are known for causing severe leg injuries in crashes. Look at it - you hit someone, what's in there to protect you?
Spend the money on a more modern minivan.

If I was buying one, I'd rather buy one that has a good body but needs an engine...those things would rust if you looked at them funny.
By the way, if this is a roundabout way of trying to sell your vehicle, you can't do that here.
