You know, the old, classic vw bugs. What is the average mile per gallon? Thanks.

Realy depends on the year since the engine size increased over the years. If you just want the purely stock mpg just check out the owners manuals : http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/type1.php

Look in the tech section of the manual.

You might want to check into some of the VW collector groups on the web. My brother has had several, the most he had at one time I believe was five. A "Thing," A Carmengia, A Superbeetle, A Vanagan and a rare VW pick-up. There are plenty of VW clubs/organization all over the country. Usually caled VW clubs.

In the 20's, like 25 mpg. A friend of mine had one, then I had a '72.

My 65 averaged around 20-25 with both the stock(1200) and hi-performance engine(1775).

19 to 23 mpg is what i averaged in my four bugs over the years.

In 1937 when those cute little bugs were being invented by Hitler the gas mileage on these were some where around 6 to 10 MPG
and sold for $895.00 each..

Even with a small engine, they were't that good on gas. About 25 mpg.

They got anywhere between 18 and 35 dependnig on how you drove em and how good the engine was. As they wore out, things got sloppy and used more power
