My mom says that Volkswagen Beetles are unsafe because they are small. That is not true. Just because they are small doesn't mean they are unsafe! I have done research and they are actually one of the safest cars out there!!! How can I convince her that They are safe and they are not coffins on wheels??? How??? HELP!!!!!

Take her to www.safecar.gov and look up the crash test results. I see they have 4 stars, except for side impact test (which weren't conducted) for 2007. Keep in mind, features such as side air bag (which could be optional) make difference in rating.
You are ALWAYS at risk of getting hit by something larger, but you could only win this game if you drive a Mach truck. I drive a mid-size car with 5 stars rating. I am; however, aware that if I get hit by a large SUV or a truck at full speed, I may not survive.

sorry im with your mom they are a death trap.the older cars are safer and stronger they are made out of real steal not fiber glass and plastic. look my cusin drove my moms crown victorya 1985 through a brick wall and the car and him were fine only an few scratches were on the car. if a bettle can do that then fine but if that happens in a bettle you are dead.

These cars are acctually safe, because of their unique shape. They re extremely balanced, and unlikely to flip over. I would not recommend a convertable though, because they obviously are not as safe as the hard top. I just got a green hard top, and I love it!!! Good luck!! :)

Get whatever car you like if you are paying for it yourself. Always go with what you feel. You could be driving the safest car out there,but if someone hits you, you could die regardless. Cars, in general, are dangerous.

they new beetles are good, safe vehicles. But, they are made in mexico and are just now having bad resale values (finally) because of build quality. There are better vehicles out there with better resale, and just as good if not better quality/safety.

I think what she means is it's always better to be in the bigger car in an accident. Can't really argue with that.....
