No.
It's brand new, take it to the dealer and have him put the code reader on the engine computer. The dealer will find out why it came on and fix the problem.

Well is it possible that the gas cap was removed while the engine was running? That would do it. Also, since the building of a vehicle is prone to human error, It may be that someone made a mistake.
No matter what the cause of it, since the warranty may be void if you try to fix it yourself, you should take it to the dealer, and have them fix it. If the gas cap wasn't removed while the engine was running, then I would consider getting rid of it, and getting a different car. It's a bad sign when something goes wrong before 1000 miles are put on the car.
Just another thought...it may be that it's time for the initial oil change.

Check the gas cap. Most often its not on tight and that sets the light off. Once you make sure its on tight drive the car and light will go out. If not take it to dealer and have it looked at under warranty.

Welcome to Volkswagen.. I have owned a VW for quite some time.. and I've heard from SOOOOO many people that they always have some kind of check engine light on... ridiculous.. but anyways, more than likely its from your gas cap not being screwed on tight enough, take it to the dealership its under warranty!
