I know there are exceptions to the increase, but I am specifically referring to my mother who works in a supermarket making a little over 6.00/hour.

Her supervisor said that new employees will eventually be hired in at the increased level, but current employees will remain at the pay level they are at now and won't be automatically increased when the law goes into effect.

That doesn't seem fair to workers like my mother and I'm wondering if what the supervisor says is the truth. Any idea?

I went in today and i was interviewed by the girl who's position i would be taking and also the HR manager for like 1 minute? which I thought was odd. She asked me one question only why I would like to be an office manager? She then said for me to follow up in a few days time and she didnt say that she would be in contact with me but for me to contact them. She also said for me to think about this opportunity and for me to call back in an email I recieved today. What does everyone think about my chances? I am realy confused. Dont they usually call you?

A while ago I applied for a waitressing job, and today they called me and told me to come in for an interview. I was hired, but after they hired me they told me the 50 million rules: no jewelry, no makeup, no nailpolish, special shoes must be worn, hair has to be in a bun. All kinds of stupid crap. I'm not interested in the job, but I just sort of nodded during the interview, because I didn't wanna jump up and be like "No thanks!" How do I gracefully get out of this?

55 year young male. Credit and collections industry on and off for 20 years. Upper managment experiance. I've had enough of this industry. A job that is not so much a challange. But enjoyable, not so stressful. Making great $ is always a good thing. But then again I want to spend less time making it. Any ideas.

Much thanks,

I'm writing my resumé right now and I have a question about apppropriate resumé format. I've worked for one company for 5+ years and i've held several different positions/jobs at this company due to restructuring, promotions, etc. On my resumé, do I list each position in its own entry even though they were all for the same company?

Rough example:

Employment History:

Personal Assistant / Nextel Corp / 2006-2007
-duties, responsibilities etc.

Receptionist / Nextel Corp / 2004-2006
-duties, responsibities, etc.

Mail Courier / Nextel Corp / 2001-2004

Do you see what I'm saying? The problem is that it takes up a lot of room on my resumé even though each of these listings are for the same company... So, do I give each of these positions their own listing or should I structure it another way?

Any suggestions?

I'm 22 years old, I'm currently a customer service rep with an insurance company I have been working with since I graduated HS. I enjoy the job, but the income potential only goes so far, and I'm always looking to the future.

I love the job because of customer interaction, I love helping people and giving them an experience that makes their day. It makes me feel good and makes going to work every day a pleasure rather than a hassle.

I want to work a job like this my whole life, but there is little room for advancement. Higher up positions decrease customer interaction, getting rid of the part of the job I love. I don't want to make mega bucks, just enough to own a house and support a family, while being able to go home and see my family every night.

What kind of careers fit this profile? The only thing I can think of is banking but I dont even know if I am thinking correctly. I'm willing to go to school, I just need to find the right path first!

Just curious. Are they hired part-time to only work the early morning and mid-afternoons and the occasional field trips? Or, are they salaried and have other duties when they're not driving schoolkids around?

My official title is a "admin assistant". I work REALLY hard. Most days are very stressful but I have a salary that makes up for the stress and demands of the position. However, no matter how much I do at work or well I do my job - people always think they can dump on me and show me little respect. How do you demand respect from your co-workers without getting fired?
