55 year young male. Credit and collections industry on and off for 20 years. Upper managment experiance. I've had enough of this industry. A job that is not so much a challange. But enjoyable, not so stressful. Making great $ is always a good thing. But then again I want to spend less time making it. Any ideas.

Much thanks,

Do you have an idea of what field you'd like to change into? You might need some additional education, depending on the field. Also, if you change fields, you'd probably take a pay cut at least temporarily until you worked your way back up.

Good luck.

The same way anyone starts a new career. Although your age may be a "slight" hinderence, pitch yourself in a positive and unique way.

Example: "After 20 very successful years in top management positions, which has enabled me to earn a very comfortable living, I'm now seeking a career in a field that will satisfy my personal goals. Money is no longer my primary motivator. I want to do something that will satisfy my personal goals, something that will help me make the world a better place, something that help others."

You get the picture.

Have you thought about health care? Many of your traits are transferable into the health field. I don't mean credit and collections, but the other side -- helping patients get free services, or easy arrangements to pay their bills.

We have a saying " We love what we do and we know it matters."

Health care is very rewarding.

Hospitals pay better than long term care, but there is nothing more rewarding than helping an elderly loved one find a place to care for their spouse.

Go M.A.D. -- go make a difference, when you make a difference in someone else's life, you will make a difference in your own.

get the yellow pages, open at page 1, look at the headings, and write down those things you COULD do. Then from that list cross out the things you COULD DO BUT DON"T WANT TO DO. Then pick out one of the things you have left and do it. That's what got me out of the safety inspection profession and into law at age 44.
