I graduated from a run of mill university, and am working in IT field in a local government. Got a little over 5 year of experience. I am still relatively young nearing my mid 30s.

I am interested in getting a job at prestigious schools like Harvard, Princeton or Darthmouth as an IT technician. How competitive is it? How difficult is the process, and do interviewers sometimes give a bit of BS during hiring processes like in private or government sector?

Once you get in, that is if you get in, how fast paced do those Ivy schools tend to be for your work?

I graduated college with a Liberal Arts degree and I am looking for a job doing anything. I am open to a career in any type of field so I can gain experience. I am not picky when it comes to salary (my desired salary range is $14k to 20k annually) and I just want to find a job. I have tried both staffing firms, recruiters, temp agencies but when I send my resumes and call in, no one will even consider me for the testing interview. Oh and I have applied to hourly and seasonal positions with no luck (I always get the "It would not be in our best interest to hire you" phrases and emails. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do or should not do? I am running out of time and since I have no valuable experience according to the agencies and placement firms (I have only worked fast food and a temporary job) they don't want to waste time with the preliminary interviewing and testing. I have even had my resume looked over 3 times and was told it was fine.

i really love traveling the world. I have been thinking about being an airline pilot but i can see perfectly out of one eye, but i can only see from my peripheral view with my other eye, but with both open i can still see perfectly. but im worried noone will want to hire me because of my other eye. is there any other option besides piloting that still gives me a chance to travel and explore?

A month ago, my boss cut everybody's hourly rate, then, he cut our hours. He found out I had applied for a job - called me in & asked if I had applied for a job someplace and I said that I had - he said my final check would be mailed out that afternoon and asked for my office keys! Can I get unemployment?

I have worked for some elderly people where I live, cleaning houses and catering, nothing official, but when I put the contact information of these people on applications and get called in for an interview, I always get "Well that might be a form of experience, but it's not a real job where you have to punch in, etc, blah blah blah. We're looking for someone with real experience"

Now I'm stuck. What should I do, or how should I fill out my applications? I need some help

A lot of us are told that our jobs should be rewarding and challenging and fun. Sounds like communist propaganda to me; anything to make us work more and keep us hoping for that last bit of fun that never really comes. Can you really have fun when there is no job security?

But how will your job allow you to enjoy your life? After all, we work to enjoy our lives through the material rewards acquired with money. So how will your job do this for you?

I recently applied for a job where I will work 7 days on and 7 days off. During the week that I am not employed, the company could call me, although it is unlikely. What are some other jobs I could do during the weeks I have off? I am ok with hard labor and outdoor jobs. What all jobs are out there that are either flexible with hours or work one week on one week off? Any ideas are appreciated! Thanks y'all!!!

PS. Please don't answer with rude or unethical answers. I am looking for a job for a person with GOOD MORAL STANDARDS!!! :) thanks again.

Ok so I currently have a job working at a Motel at the front desk part time.I had recently applied for another job which was a lot better paying with full time as well as benefits. My husband really wants to see me work somewhere that I will have more hours and better money.I applied about 4 days ago and they said they couldn't get back with me until next week because for this line of work I needed a background check and when that comes back they could talk to me about employment.they told me to go ahead and put my notice in but i didn't because I wanted to make sure I had the job first.Well they called me today and want me to start tomarrow for the training class. But I work at the job I have now tomarrow.I can't put off the class cuz its mandatory to take.If I don't take it they can't hire me.My hubby told me just to up and quit this one but I don't like to burn any bridges. What would you do in this situation.Quit or stay and posibally lose the chance of a great oppertunity?

I want to move to Mexico, around April or so my father lives there and I would like to spend some time with him also I am 26 years old and at a point in life that I want to grow on my own. The dilemma is that I have a job where I am very much needed. I am a full time nanny, when I got hired they told me that they needed some one permanent and that won't quit on them in a couple of months. I totally love my job and I feel very appreciate it there and they also treat me very good. I don't know how to bring it up to them and tell them my plans. I just feel the need to get out of here and find myself and to me that is the best option. Please no b.s I am grown and know what I do with my life. I would really appreciate it if people would be serious about my question.

I haven't been back to my company's building due to a bad situation there since mid-September. I am leaving now
and have a new job.

I have worked from an alternative location with my

Do I have to go back for the exit interview with
HR, or is it reasonable to ask to conduct the
exchange by phone and obtain paperwork
by mail or email?
