I totally agree with you about it being propaganda. I suppose the only truth to that is that our jobs give us money to help us enjoy the things that we like. I used to like my job and enjoy going to work every day, but I haven't for the last maybe 4 years. I think it's definitely time for a job change for me, so that I may enjoy my work once again. Yes, I must have job security. That's one reason I could never work on commission. I have to know that that check is coming in at the end of the week and I know what the amount will be with no surprises.

Fun is where you find it. Your job is not responsible for your life and fun you have outside of work... they don't pay you during that time, so they can't be held responsible for it. You need to separate your play time and work time... they are not one in the same.

I know what you mean...that's why you should pick a profession that you enjoy...something that dosen't FEEL like work. A few people I know that feel this way are in the following professions: photography, videography, acting, and also being self employed in any business is the way to go. Your future is in YOUR hands, job security is not what it was 20 years ago where if you got a job with a big corporation you were set for life. Personally, I didn't mind working with kids so I started a summer camp at 19 years old. That grew into a full time business of pre school and daycare. Fast forward....Now...I'm laughing...mom of 2 kids...28 employees and I go in a few times a week to check on things. Find something you enjoy or at the very least "don't mind" and take it from there. All the best to you!

PASSION, PASSION, PASSION. Is the answer.
You've got to really love what you do. I've worked with people who really don't care and they are so miserable because every day is a treadmill.
You have to accept job security has gone, but theres a great saying I fully believe....
'If you find a job you love, you'll never do a days work in your life!!!'
Meaning that you enjoy the job so much it's actually great!!!
Too many people waste their lives stuck in jobs they hate, and pretending to themselves they can't leave because of x,y,z. Only you can make you happy.

You are asking questions that only you can answer.
The bottom line is that most people spend a huge chunk of their adult lives working -- something like 35% depending on when you start and when and if you retire.
Investing that much of your life in something that you hate -- that brings you down or makes you miserable will have a negative impact on the rest of your life. You have three choices: Do something you like, work somewhere you enjoy, or don't allow the work world to impact the rest of your life.
As a side note: job security has been and alway will be a crock. LIFE is not secure. If you spend your life looking backwards, unhappy that life didn't do unto you as you EXPECTED, you will always be miserable.
Live life to enjoy something in every day, in every person. Look forward to the challenges that tommorrow brings and learn to expect and thrive with change. Life is far more enjoyable this way.

Find one that will. You may have to sacrifice pay or work schedule. But if you find a job you like doing, it will help you enjoy your life. It just depends on what you define as enjoying life.
Money doesnt bring happiness. I find happiness helping others. I find happiness in my faith in God, in the fact that I have nothing to worry about because my life is in Gods hands. I live life day by day and live the best way that I can. I find happiness in my wife and family.
Money doesnt make you happy, material possessions doesnt bring you happiness, that stuff fades. Ever get that toy you would kill for and a month or two later you find it sitting on a shelf or it doesnt bring you as much happiness as when you didnt have it?
Dont live an empty life in materialism

Job satisfaction is internal. If you are in the profession where your heart and mind get along well you will be blessed with a internal satisfacation of having a good job that you don't wont to leave .
Their is no such thing as job security. Job security is actually a bad thing because it makes you relax . One stops learning and take things for granted. Challenges is what keeps us going. My 2 cents..
