I'm interested in teaching at a community college. I'm a CPA and would teach accounting. I'm curious if other accountants have done this and enjoyed it or not. How do people do this with a full time job? Has anyone made the transition into doing this full time after working in industry?

My husband recently got a horrible performance review which he disagrees with whole heartedly and a 3 month probation. He really loves his job but I am wondering, is it too late? Have they already made up their minds to fire him? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Is it appropriate to ask questions regarding the company offers in terms of benefits during a 1st interview, and also to ask questions about how often performance reviews are given and increases? Or should I ask these questions once a job offer has been made to me?

I am a professional with experience in a rather small subset of larger profession. I applied for and got an interview within this small subset of my profession at a different location.

They rushed the phone interview and in person interview through in a 1 week. I am pretty sure the quickness of the procedure meant they had an internal candidate, but because the institution policy requires several candidates they brought me in.

I also was kinda iffy about this position because of the commute, and I think that came through in the interview, not to mention my unpreparedness because I only had one night to prep for the in person interview.

I interviewed on Friday and got an email today stating " I had strong qualifications they choose another candidate whose credentials and experience better suited our needs for this position". The standard reply.

My question is since this is small field would it be weird to ask for feedback? And do you think they had an internal candidate?

They say that more and more Americans are working a second or third job to make more money and in some cases just to make ends meat. I know one man who works four jobs totally 100 hours a week because he is so much in debt (he has thousands in unpaid medical bills and is to proud to declare bankruptcy).

Do you work a second job and if so what do you do in your second job?

I'm interested in (a) what industry or general type of job you do, and (b) a rating of 1 - 10 (1 = hate it, 10 = love it).
For example I would say, my industry is IT and rating is 8.

This is for my son who will soon be considering career choices. Please don't include money/pay in your rating of job satisfaction, just how much you like the type of work you do.

I just asked some questions if I should leave my current job for a video store. About 99% (including me) say I should make the change.

I was looking at the application and I have two areas that I need some advice first.

First, is says are you currently employed? Yes, I am, at Taco Bell. I'm not a big fan of it and want to change. But the part I'm concerned about is "Can we Contact Your Current Employer?"

I want to say no, just in case I don't get the vid store job, taco bell wont be mad. But if I check no, will this hurt my chances?

And two, they ask if I would be "willing to relocate?" I again want to say no (I'm only 16), but really want this job.

So what should I do for these two sections of the application?

By the way, in the Two Weeks Notice I give taco Bell if I get hired, I'm gonna say I have to quit due to school or a spring sport (so if I don't like the new job, I could come back).

I love my job. I've been there for over 3 years. Me & my co-workers have fun working together, and we are considered to be a top-notch sales team. People outside our company say I am great to work with, and I do an exceptional job.

But the head of our department is at odds with me. When I first came here, people warned me he was a bad boss, but I decided to give him a chance. My good work earned a thank you card from him for a great sales presentation I made.

There have been blowups between him and others. In the past year, many from our dept. quit because of him. This summer, I found a Dilbert comic that reminded me of him. He found it, confronted me. I apologized & it hasn't happened since. But later, he kept bringing it up in meetings. Today, I just got an annual review, and mostly all he talked about was that comic, and I'm now "untrustworthy" & "non-conforming." But then, some of my co-workers got bad reviews from him today, too. We can't ALL suck!

Some of my former coworkers and supervisors, who have began working since the creation of this company in 1996, are leaving for other jobs. As an part-time employee of 4 plus years, should I be concerned? Is this considered something normal? Do you think that there is something that I do not know?

I'm petrified. I've been lucky my past jobs in terms of longevity so I haven't had many interviews. However the two I went on yesterday were awful - I stuttered a little, nervous as heck, couldn't form my thoughts correctly, had a few uncomfortable pauses, etc. Even though I'm considered a bright, competent, well-liked person ...and am great at what I do (office manager) - interviewing is a form of torture for me. Please help. Anything! I very, very much want this job that I am going for tomorrow.

I recently (in writing) put in my two week notice for my current job, so my boss knows that I have a new job and I am leaving. But he still insist that I work and he has me on the schedule and today told me that I can't leave yet cause he hasn't hired another person to take my place. My last day is the 26th but he has me working until the 31st. What should I do just not come or show up.
