I just asked some questions if I should leave my current job for a video store. About 99% (including me) say I should make the change.

I was looking at the application and I have two areas that I need some advice first.

First, is says are you currently employed? Yes, I am, at Taco Bell. I'm not a big fan of it and want to change. But the part I'm concerned about is "Can we Contact Your Current Employer?"

I want to say no, just in case I don't get the vid store job, taco bell wont be mad. But if I check no, will this hurt my chances?

And two, they ask if I would be "willing to relocate?" I again want to say no (I'm only 16), but really want this job.

So what should I do for these two sections of the application?

By the way, in the Two Weeks Notice I give taco Bell if I get hired, I'm gonna say I have to quit due to school or a spring sport (so if I don't like the new job, I could come back).

If you are not willing or not able to relocate then you should not say you are, no matter how much you want the job.

As to contacting your current employer - it would be understandable if you said NO as you are currently employed, and no one wants a prospective employer contacting their current employer in case the job does not come through. However, if you get the job, they will most likely ask to contact your previous job to verify your employment and other information in your application. Asking your new employer not to verify your application information because you want to keep your options open is not a good idea and could work against you in this situation.

Answer yes about contacting your employer, it can't hurt your employer may realize your valuable and offer you more money to stay. About the relocation part just say no they will understand and won't hold it against you because your young like you said. Who knows after you work somewhere a while you may be willing to move later so even if you answered yes to relocating and they offered it later you still have the option to turn it down.
