"CV" is short for Curriculum Vitae. It is often preferred in academic settings, and is generally more complete than a resume. While the rule-of-thumb is one page for a resume, it is two pages for a CV.

Curriculum Vitae.

A resume is generally no more than 1 page and used in commercial business to get a job. A CV can run several pages and is used more in academic and medical settings. (You are listing all of your credentials.) There are samples on the web.
