on it? I'm trying to come up with something I would use on resumes or to give coworkers, etc. What if it were something like our initials and last name, for example (and this isn't my name) jpsmith@.... or jnpsmith@.....

Just make a free new email for the different use. I am an employer it does not make much difference but I notice everything. It may make me think. Why didn't they just make a new free email for sending me a resume etc?

It is not unprofessional but it might show that you do not pay attention to small details or that you might not be able to think of ways to solve problems etc.

I don't know that it is necessarily unprofessional to use a shared mailbox, but for my personal preference I would have a separate mailbox, just so I could keep my job search and business emails separate from personal emails. If you are going to set yours up as in your example jpsmith@ or jnpsmith@ NOT j&psmith@, then sure go on and do it. There is no way to tell that it is 2 people unless you know them.

I don't believe an HR department would quibble over an email with yours and your husband's names on it. I know as an employer I wouldn't. I WOULD however look askance at something like parTgurl@ , sexxyMomma@ or some other such nonsense.

NOT AT ALL, an e-mail similar to the examples shown would be just fine. Employers don't like it when on the resume the prospective employee has crazy e-mail addresses like hotmama420@ and stuff like that.

I often review resumes and interview. Although thereotically an email address should make no difference in my assessment, I can't help but notice it and often it gives me a little more insight (or in my mind it does). For example, for a technical position, I would be leary of someone with an @aol.com account. It shouldn't matter, but it just does...

I would just create a new email account. THey are free on so many sites and really easy to do. If you are using it for work and resumes make sure it is just your name and not something like hotmamma93@yahoo.com LOL

Professional is better

get your own email, yahoo or google mail and msn provide for free. In the long run it will look better and try to make it just a name and easy to remember, if you use something kooky or a nickname they may interpret you as a bit immature.

I have my own personal email but I also set up a new account for my job search. It's free and easy to do, and I think it's more professional.
