I just graduated with a degree in communications and a minor in writing. I thought I wanted to do something in the journalism field. But I realized now after $100k in tuition that it's not what I want to do. What types of jobs can i do with this degree. I was very involved in school, from student govt. to the university judicial board, ski club, marketing association... What are some good jobs that would pay well and that I would be able to move up quickly in.

My friend is a great problem solver. He is good at going into businesses and raising revenue and just generally figuring out how to make things smoother. He has a bs in sociology and some experience in doing this sort of thing with some newspapers. What job should he apply for and how can he get a job that utilizes these skills???

The thought just popped up in my head that I would very much like to work as someone who goes into companies and helps throw stuff out that isn't necessary.
Not on a management level, but on an operational and production level.
I would re-design processes and products simply by finding ways of doing without aspects of them, saving money and trouble.

If there is such a profession, what is it called?

I've noticed a much better hit rate when my account was new. Do employers have a way of telling how long the resume has been posted? Should I delete an account and start fresh?

Its a dangerous job but you like it because you are earning thousands for your family but sadly it has to come to an end. Are you willing for this to happen?
Your country has elected a new prime minister and he is going to pull you out. You will have to find a new job, only earning $15 per hour.

When there are 4 answers I will tell you the job. Thank you for answering.

I am trying to reenter an entry-level field in which my most recent experience was seven years ago. I had a 9-year history in this field, so it is significant.

Where should this information be included in the resume? Should I briefly explain it in the cover letter instead?

I have an interview for a job as a recreational coordinator but really dont have much experience in it -- it says they want me to:

"create and coordinate recreational activities program based on resident interests. (it also says) This position requires planning, organizing and implementing a total activities program for an upscale senior community. Event planning expertise preferred"

Does anyone have experience in this. DO you have any ideas about recreational programs?? I have basic ideas like bowling, movies, museum but I need more in depth information on what they may be reffering to when they say they want me to plan organize and implement. Please those who work in this type of field help! I will give 10 point to the best answer. I really need a good in depth answer. I know what the word plan, organize and implement mean but if some of you work in the field how did you go about doing this???

My sister was hired on a permanent contract by a company on the condition that the first 6 months would be the "probationary period". Last week, on the last day of the probationary period, she was called to a meeting by her boss, and abruptly told that her contract would be terminated because she had made too many mistakes, but mainly because she was disliked by her colleagues, and did not fit in. Although she acknowledges that she made a few mistakes in the beginning, her line manager had said this was ok because she was new to her job. What is most confusing is being fired because of being disliked by colleagues. My sister always said her boss (female) hated her from the beginning, but she always thought she got on well with people in her dept. She was too upset in the meeting to question her boss, but what she and I are wondering now is, is being disliked by colleagues a valid reason to terminate an employee's contract, and doesnt the company need evidence? Thanks for any advice

Hi All,

I have been in a 3-month long interview process moving through 5 steps. I was informed last night that the company had to "conduct a background and reference check before extending a final offer". Does this mean I got the job? Should I be concerned on what a background and reference check will do? It was unclear in the employer's tone over the phone and it wasn't clear on whether it was official that I got the job or if I should continute to see this as another step in the process.

Today I walked out of my crappy job, because I was completely fed up with the boss barking orders and being disrespectful, and the random hours, and the rude customers, but that's besides the point. I had put in 67 hours since my last paycheck. I really don't want to have to deal with these people again. I understand that after 3 days, it will be job abandonment, and I will have quit. Will they mail me a check, or will they attempt to not pay me until I call and hassle them about it?

I went interview this week on Tuesday. I did send my thank you letter on Wednesday and today to find the result. The HR is saying they will decide by next week and let all candidate know their decision. Does it mean right now still looking and think they have not found the right person. But she didn't turn me down so I guess does it mean still there is hope. Only think I think it ruin my chance is me being late to my interview 10 minutes but other than that I know I did great in interview. The HR manger was prior to me they interviewed 11 people she didn't like any of them and one they interview on Tuesday were today 3 people that includes me she thought all of us were the best so far and she said she think they should be able to decide now otherwise will continue looking. The job has been removed from the website. I wonder if they made someone offer and just waiting to see that background clear

I've just got my permit, and now I'm finally ready to apply for jobs to get some money.

Any ideas? I prefer not to work as McDonalds please. Something else other than that.

I have worked at my uncles sushi bar once, but my hours are too complicated to as for another job there again.

Any suggestions would help. I would like to apply for Best Buy, but I heard that you have to be 18 or older to apply there. Is that true?

At work, I have had to work closely with one particular staff member because I'm training him up, which has been great because I really, really like him. He's hard working & very friendly. I have always noticed that he seems very nervous all the time and I have just discovered why. His friend has told me he has a huge crush on me. This isn't new to me because I have had a lot of staff members with crushes on me. My operations manager told me it is to be expected because staff members often develope crushes on their bosses. The trouble is, every time this happens, they end up leaving when I turn them down. I want to break this cycle because as I said, I really like him (but not like that) & he is very hard working & gets along with everyone.
