My friend is a great problem solver. He is good at going into businesses and raising revenue and just generally figuring out how to make things smoother. He has a bs in sociology and some experience in doing this sort of thing with some newspapers. What job should he apply for and how can he get a job that utilizes these skills???

Some possibilities would be: business analyst, business consultant, management consultant. My hunch is, though, that if he wants to use these skills on a regular basis, he may need to go free-lance. Once someone comes in and tweaks things in a business, then they need to keep running, and perhaps that part would bore him or he wouldn't be as good at maintaining things as in seeing the flaws and making valuable suggestions to improve them.

He may be hired as a business consultant if he has done this much. Maybe becoming a company president since it sounds like he does everything from raising revenue to time motion studies.
