Marketing or advertising may be a good fit for you. I can not say you will be paid well up front but, any business person that finds someone who can sell the product or put a positive spin on some of the business decisions that are made will be seen by management as a employee that has potential

Nigel had some good suggestions. I was surprised by the high salary for technical writers, as they were higher than for most writing positions. Most postings I looked at were for journalism majors, which surprised me (as opposed to engineering majors). Marketing and other fields may be more interesting for you judging by your interests, but you could consider technical writing to let the salary get you on your feet until you can move on to more creative work.

The fact is that you do not have to go it alone. Far too many people find themselves in debt, entering or in the midst of the workforce battle, and it is hard on everyone. One thing is for certain, you must have definiteness of purpose, regardless of the field you choose. And your education does not dictate to you which career field you enter. I would suggest reading the book "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill if you have not already, and then re-arrive at this question. This book has been responsible for creating more millionaires than any other book! It has done wonders to help initiate the lifestyle changes I needed, and didn't realize I was seeking. Good luck!

You may want to investigate the real estate market. While it is dwindling at this time, there are jobs as administrative assistants in the rental market, which do not require a real estate license.
