You're kidding right, Singapore is THE safest city in the world, with a stunning skyline, great shopping, nice warm weather, a very friendly atmosphere and good job prospects.

Women walked about on their own at 2am, not a care in the world and I will never in my life come across a cleaner city than Singapore, not even Zurich could match this. It was incredible to see!! It is not that oppressive either, inspite of the rumours but I don't deny that you can be given the death penalty if you smuggle more than 50 grams of recreational drugs into the country for dealing purposes. You don't seem like a drugs barren to me. I think Singapore has probably the lowest drug incidence in the world. What can you get addicted on except caffeine and alcohol and very few Singaporean men drink to excess? I have been all over the world and have to say that Singapore remains one of the most impressive cities I have ever seen; only Sidney and several European cities top it in my opinon. I wish we had a city like that in England.

Singapore is one of the safest cities in the world - you should have no problems at all. It is strict but not oppressive at all - there are plenty of nightlife and you won't get hassled.

As for the employment situation, it depends what you can do and what your nationality is. Singapore is a financial and business hub in Southeast Asia and if you have a strong business background, especially in finance or accountancy, there may be a job. Unlike many cities in Asia, teaching English really isn't an option - Singapore runs on English.

I've been to Singapore many times and you just may like it - it's clean, plenty of shopping, very good restaurants and very cosmopolitan. It is cheaper than Tokyo, Beijing and Seoul. Not as cheap as Jakarta or Bangkok. But it's clean and safe.

Good luck!

okay, and now the bad things...sorry to burst your bubble.

1.singaporeans are very rude(don't get the wrong idea, they are nice ones, like me:) but if u don't know, singapore is made up of four races:Malay,Chinese,Indian and Eurasian.i'm eurasian:) anyway, majority of singaporeans are chinese.and not trying to be rasist or anything but chinese are the rude ones.from personal experience and 1st hand observation i found out they are really the rudest.not ALL are rude but majority are.maybe if u come here they won't be rude to you cause u are from another country, but to the local people they are very rude.no kidding.
2.DON'T EVER TAKE UP DRIVING IN SINGAPORE!(firstly, the drivers in singapore are inpatient,rude.etc.

4.really hot!! weather is just sun and rain.no snow,no tsunami,no earthquake,no tonado and all those.LOL

okay, that about all. phew! LOL.but i really recommend u migrate here.its a really nice place, overall.i really can show u aronud if u want.i will be glad to. u can tell me more about yourself.please tell me where u from..thanks.

S'pore is a great place and one of the safest. Have spent a lot of time travelling by foot & the tube at all hours and have found no significant issues. There are people & food available till the wee hours in the morning & plenty of cabs available. Be it a male or a female there is danger if you lose out on common sense. Have fun and shop till you drop!!

Don't listen to these people. It is still quite safe. I recommend you to stay with someone you know in Spore. Employment chances depend on your level of education. But it's very high chance you can get a job cz Spore's economy is flourishing rapidly. Anyway, Im a Singaporean.

Any place you go, it's an important point that you learn the culture of things. Some countries don't like single women roaming around and make laws to prevent it. Just keep in mind that you are in another country and its your job to respect the customs; learn the language; and don't expect your original country to come save you if something detrimental may take place. Also, keep your head up for your own countryfellowman in your new home community. They too, have preyed on their own like they are lawless. (story about KBR and brutally raped female employee.)
