I've noticed a much better hit rate when my account was new. Do employers have a way of telling how long the resume has been posted? Should I delete an account and start fresh?

I would not delete the account but update/ refresh the resume often. Employers can see a last revision date. When you save changes, the new date shows.

Yes, the resumes do "age" as you put it. As suggested before, don't delete the account, just "refresh" your resume. This becomes important because many searches of resumes are done on more recent ones. I try to do my searches once a week and use a search criteria that shows only resumes posted within the last seven days. Many employers have saved searches that run every day for "new" resumes posted, and if you refresh a resume on monster it comes across as if it was new.

However, when an employer clicks on the resume to view it (as opposed to the summary results from a search) you can see the date the resume was originally posted.

I landed my job off Monster 6 years ago it worked much better than Dice.com for our company.
