My manager is new with the company and he is bringing four coworkers with him from his previous company. Me and one other girl are the outsiders. So far I'm not impressed. He can't give me clear answers on the medical insurance coverage, he tells me one thing then says another. I can't get straight answers out of him on anything. I didn't get an official offer of employment letter - just a generic packet with random information on the company and a insurance form to fill out (with no insurance information as to what plans are offered). I email him asking him questions about the forms I'm filling out and he emails me back with vague answers and says "Just two more days before the fun begins" (meaning 2 more days until I start). I think this guy is a quack. The other girls he hired look like topless dancers - I'm from the corporate world and very professional. I feel out of place and not at all confident this is a manager I can trust or rely on. But I need this job. ???

acceptable for me just to find a job an apartment and move? Im the administrator of a highrise building and have been here 2 years, the reason he wants to fire me is his own problem he gave me a $700/week budget for employees other than myself to take care of a 50 year old building with 200 apartments oh yeah and somehow Im suppost to provide security. The other reason Im being fired is for refusal to perform illegal tasks. Anyways so he's asking I stay for some undisclosed amount of time I guess so he can replace me I feel like just up and moving this weekend and give he no notice likes he's trying to pull on me. Seam fair? Btw Ive previously quit he used to cry and beg for me to stay also I know with certainty when I leave he will loose massive money (he's the type of guy that will loose a dollar to gain a penny.

I really don't get it. Many of the admin jobs are filled by women and many of them are overweight( alot) and the companies don't seem to care. Why?

Why they don't care for their employees''s health. Moreover these office workers are the first person that clients see. Its not presentable to have a super overweight person.

Whta's wrong with saying Hey we'll hire you but we'll give you some encouragement and maybe provide some Money as part of your benefits package to get in shape.
That's actually helping people, not hurting them.

I always see overweight administrative people that don't try to change and the companies dont care and moreover they keep eating junk food at work.

I've been at a job for 3 months and will be moving out of state next week. I've only planned to give 1 week notice as I am a temp and the location will be closing within the next year. I work for a staffing company. I know I need to let my staffing co. know but I guess I should also say something to my supervisor at my actual place of work? Would you say something later today or early tomorrow? What would you do?

it's necessary. They treat the other two girls like Princesse's and me like crap. TOday, I said something to the President and he said "I don't care" . In the past, he has told me that I'm "just the receptionist", yet I do so much more then just reception work. I'm getting really tired of this.

I did an interview for a credit card company on Dec 6th which was almost two weeks ago. The company told me that they would call me and let me know. I emailed them a follow up letter but received no response. I called them and the manager was out for meeting. I called them later again and the customer service representative told me that they would call me back since the company was moving, rearranging the desk, cleaning up.. I did not receive phone call yet. Is it better to call them since they havent told me verbally whether I got the job or not? Or are they using nonverbal communication although they told me that they would call me back twice? One of my friend works there but it took him almost two weeks for them to call him. I am assuming the same thing... but should I call them since they say they will call me back like twice? or do you think they are just ignoring instead of telling me directly? what is the best thing to reach them in a nice way and find out whether I got hired?

I did an interview about almost two weeks ago. The company told me that they would call me back and let me know. Therefore after it has been a week, I emailed and left the voice message. The company havent called me back. I first thought they were ignoring me. I least wanted the answer whether I would get hired or not. Later I called them again and the customer service representative told me that they were rearranging the office, cleaning up so they would call me back by monday(today) or so.. Do you think I would get hired if they said they would call me back by today or so? They should of told me at least that I did not get in if I wasnt getting hired right if I emailed them and left them voice message? if the customer respresentative told me that the company would call me back on their decision, will I get hired most likely after they clean up, rearrage the desk? what do you think? based on my circumstances?

I work 8-5 M-F. I am a secretary in a garage. I so far today have done my work orders for Monday, cleaned my office, cleaned the bathroom, read the paper, filed and painted my nails, filed my paperwork for the week, done the deposit, played games on POGO, talked to my sister, answered and asked a bunch of questions on here, swept the empty work bays, processed the mail, and there are still 1.5 hours left in my day. What else can I do to fill the time. Winter is a slow time for us but my boss wants me here all day just to answer the phone so it doesn't bug him while he's working. Any suggestions?

I am the HR Director at my company and yesterday, one of my employees asked me a few questions regarding our policy on unused vacation and sick days. I told him that unused vacation days would be reimbursed to the employee at the end of the year but that unused sick days would not be reimbursed. Not wanting to use his vacation days, the employee responded "Well I think I feel a cold coming on." He then winked and walked away.

This morning, the employee's supervisor told me that the employee called in sick today claiming to have a soar throat. I told the supervisor about the conversation I had with the employee and naturally his supervisor is quite irate and does not want me to pay the employee for the sick day.

I'm not sure what to do about this issue. I do not think I can legally deny the employee use of his paid sick day but I am also sure that he is misusing this benefit. What should I do?

I know some people get off serving and pleasing people but damn, now there is a difference between an administrator and a secretary….see example:

Administrator = you have a job and don’t rely on anyone and have peace and quiet

Secretary = you are someones *****, you run errand for the manager, even sometimes making coffee, printing copies for him when he has a printer right next to him unless you are secretary of STATE!
