The first pay period usually starts after 31 st March every year , as this is the day on which annual accounts are closed . That is it starts from 1 st Day of April every year !!

The pay period continues as always. The First pay date of year depends on what type of payroll and what day you normally get paid. IE: Weekly payroll paid on Friday would be 1/4/08. If you get paid the 1st and the 15th, your employer will probably pay on the 2nd as this is the first banking day of the new year. If your payroll is bi-weekly and you were paid on the 21st, then the first pay of 2008 would be the 4th.

Whatever the regular period is. Most of our weeks go Monday to Sunday, except those that go 1st to the 15th or 16 to EOM.
