I did an interview last thursday for a company. They said that they would let me know the decision by this week. I sent them a follow up letter on monday but I am not getting response yet. Do you think the company is still making decision? or is it the holiday season so they are not hiring? or when is the best time for me to actually call them?

call back when they are open so you are guranteed to get some sort of a response...might not be a good one but something not to leave you hanging.

It is always good to be engaged with an employer about potential hiring. That being said, they need some time. Holidays make things even slower.
Normally 2 business days is OK before follow-up, with holidays, I'd give it 3-4. After next week, 12/21, it will really slow down. I'd check in at least before 12/21.

If the company said that they would let you know their decision by this week, then by all means call. It is your interest to know and this would help you to make further plans for yourself. Simply say that you are calling to let them know that you apreciated the time they took to review your interview and that they did say that they would let you know what is the decision. Then say that you are always open to any further reviews if the position becomes available (if you were denied).

I think a follow up call 1 week after submitting your application is appropriate. So I suggest calling them early Friday morning.
I hate job hunting. so nerve wracking.

never... Go in person and ask for the manager by name....If you see him dont ask about the reply situation start by your needs and what you can do for them

I would call them tomorrow.. it would be friday... and this could acutally be the day they pick...
