No. It's a waste of money. You are there to work, not have fun.

Well, there are some benefits to that.
1. Employees that are in shape are more productive.
2. Employees that are in shape are healthier, which translates to lower health care expenses (which are borne by the employee and the employer).
3. Can contribute to employees working harder and/or being more flexible with their work schedules, since they have the recreation facility on-site. Instead of an employee coming in late or leaving early to get in their workout, they might be more inclined to stay later, knowing they can get their workout in "on-site".
4. Can also encourage and foster team work among employees. For example, having softball teams for the employees in another way to facilitate team building and collaboration.

It depends on the job. The military provides gyms for soldiers. Actors and actresses on movie sets get facilities because they need it for their job and they can't always go to the nearest town or whatever because it might be a closed set to keep onlookers out that would possibly ruin a movie. Some telemarketing jobs offer a gym and other incentives at their job to keep employees from going somewhere else. For other jobs a recreational facility doesn't make sense. It all depends on what it would be used for. For many reasons I think it could be a good idea.

Yes. The university where I work is always providing employees with weekly Friday workouts and plus we can use the gym facilities. It is known to be beneficial in helping to reduce stress and increase an employees level of production. Plus employers who care about the health and welfare of their employees will have employees stay longer and produce better results beneficial to all.

No. I think employers should reward their employees who work hard, follow the rules and help the company be financially successful, by paying the employees enough money to pay for their own recreational activities on the off hours. sadly, few do.

Wow; good question for today... At least a discount. That's what I say. If they provide the facility free of charge, then they are just asking for another thing for employees to take advantage of. But yes, a discount to a health facility would be my vote.
The reason, We want healthy employees! Really; it's crazy how obesity and other things are affecting the work force.
Great Question!

This is why companies go out of business.
They should provide this, they should provide that. Who pays for it???
There are costs a company just cannot pass on to their customers.Sooner or later, it isn't worth staying in business.
Whatever happened to the new employee who was just glad to get the job, and is now wanting more and more and wants to give back less and less?

I think it is a great idea! Healthy employees are more happy, productive employees. It is convenient, cheaper than attending fitness centers, and less busy.
